EXHIBITOR QUESTIONS

Can I get an application for 2011 while visiting the 2010 Festival?

Yes. Applications for 2011 will be available at the Art League of Marion Information Booth located in the gazebo.

May I change spaces with someone or move to a better location if no one is there?

No. You will need to stay in your assigned space.

Is one space better than another as to customer traffic flow?

No. Booth spaces are placed throughout the Park in areas of high traffic.

Do I have to exhibit for all three days of the Festival?

Yes. This is a three day Festival, and you must exhibit at all times that the Festival is open.

Do I have to wait until Sunday at 5:00 p.m. to tear down?

Yes. You must be completely town down and ready to pack your vehicle before you will be allowed to enter the Park. After tearing down, please look for a Festival Volunteer who will give you a "tear-down" ticket which you will need to present at the Gate in order to enter. THIS IS A NEW PROCEDURE AND ONE THAT WE HOPE WILL ALLEVIATE CONGESTION IN THE PARK.

What do you use the jurying fee for?

100% of the jurying fees are placed into a scholarship fund. These funds are used to provide scholarships for area students who are pursuing higher education in the arts which includes fine art, graphic design, theater, music, and dance.

May I lease my booth space to someone else or share my booth space with someone else?

No. As indicated in our application, all of the work must be hand-crafted by the Applicant. All work must go before the Jurying Committee for acceptance and must be solely the work of that Applicant.

May I exhibit work which was not included with my photographs at the time of application?

No. All work must be accepted by the Jurying Committee. If you show work that has not been juried, you will be asked to remove it immediately.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

Where can I get general information while visiting the Festival?

The Art League of Marion Information Booth will be located in the gazebo.

Does the Festival go on - rain or shine?

Yes. Most of the rains in July are over with quickly, and we don't let them get us down. The Show must go on!!!

Are there any particular rules which should be followed while visiting a Festival?

Yes. Please follow these simple, common sense rules while visiting the Festival:

• DO plan to spend the day. We have over 100 participating exhibitors, and you will want to see everything.

• DO plan to buy art/crafts. Some of the exhibitors do this for a living.

• DO NOT haggle about the price. This is an arts and crafts festival, not a flea market.

• DO ask permission before taking photographs. Our exhibitors are protective of their work.

• DO NOT handle art/crafts during or after eating. The food is terrific, but not smeared on a one-of-a-kind work of art.

• DO compliment the artist if so inclined.

• DO NOT make unkind remarks about an exhibitor's work, even if it is not to your particular taste.

• DO ask questions. Most exhibitor's enjoy talking about their work, the process, and their background.

• DO NOT ask an exhibitor how long it takes to make a particular piece. It sounds like you are trying to compute his or her hourly wage.

• DO NOT bring your dog. He will not have a good time, and he may interfere with other people's enjoyment of the festival.

• DO NOT allow your children to run free, no matter what their age. Their safety and the well-being of others is too important.

• DO NOT use "I can't afford it," as your exit line. Just say, "Thank you" and move on.

• DO NOT walk or ride your bike through the show. DO NOT roller blade or skate through the show. One miscalculation, and you could end up purchasing hundreds of dollars in broken artwork.

• DO NOT block a booth's entrance while you chit-chat with neighbors.

• DO NOT use the shade inside a booth to feed or change your baby.

• DO NOT ask an exhibitor to make change for a big bill before noon.

• DO NOT give the exhibitor a hard time about collecting sales tax. The law requires him or her to do so .

• DO look carefully at price tags. DO NOT embarrass yourself by offering a $10.00 bill for an $800.00 item.

• DO feel free to leave your purchase with the exhibitor until you are ready to leave the Park.

• DO make sure your trash makes it into the trash receptacles. Hungry Mother State Park is a lovely area. Let's keep it that way.

• DO have a wonderful time and plan to visit us again next year.
